Welcome to HUC's Winter League 2009-2010 season! My name is Asif Mohammed and I will be your team captain this season. If you have received this message then you are on Team 11. Yup, that's our name for now. We'll come up with a creative team name as soon as the league theme has been determined.

I encourage everyone to come out to the Pull Party at Texans Indoor Soccer tomorrow night (Thursday night). You can meet your teammates, pick up your disc, shirts (if you ordered them) and pay your fees. You can also watch or play some sweet indoor ultimate. It costs $5 to play and they only allow turf shoes or tennis shoes; no cleats. More info on the Pull Party and the indoor game available in Thomas Jackson's post above.

Saturday is the first day of league. Our first game is at 10 am and there will be a skills clinic at 9am for those interested. Be sure to bring sunscreen, cleats, water, a smile and anything else you need to dominate your opponent. Unfortunately, I will be in College Station coaching the UH mens team at a tourney. My right hand man, Dan Miller, will be your captain for this Saturday. We'll both be at the Pull Party tomorrow so come meet us there.

A great online resource on Ultimate Frisbee is the Ultimate Handbook. There is a lot of information there. I would like for everyone to try to read about the stack and the force before Saturday. Please do not hesitate to ask me or Dan any questions that you have about the game. You can either post your question to the group or you can email me directly at asifm42@gmail.com. I'll send out instructions on how to post to the group once I figure out the new system that was just implemented a few days ago. I do know that our team's main page is at http://houstonultimate.org/Team11 which will eventually have links to the schedule, rosters, messages like this one, etc.
