Hey Rabbits,
The turnout last weekend was particularly dissappointing. We ended up having 6 players from our team and need to pick-up players from the teams we were playing in order to participate. I know that it had snowed the day before and there were some traffic problems with 45, but we need to make a better effort to show up and not let our fellow teammates down. In comparison, the team with the next lowest turnout had 9 people! According to the roster, we should not have anyone missing this weekend's games. Therefore, please make a committment to your team and come out by 9:45AM. I would really like to do a more formalized warmup because I feel like we have come out of the gate sluggish the last couple games.
Based on the above attendence problem, I am instituting a new team policy:
1. Each player is responsible to email me (mike.flum@gmail.com) if they will not be attending that week's games.
2. If something suddenly comes up on Saturday morning and you are unable to attend, please call me (914) 552-6155.
3. I will send out another email on Friday with the number of people expected to show. Therefore if our numbers are looking low, we can draw on other resources (James' brother and a couple other players I know).
In other news, Mary is running her final skills clinic from 9:00-9:45AM this Saturday with the topic being Zone Offense/Defense. We encountered zone defense for the first time last week. Despite being able to beat it for the most part, we did not utilize the middle of the field well and were mostly successful due to low wind conditions which didn't hinder my upwind hucks. If we find ourselves in worse conditions, we are going to need to know how to run and zone offense. Therefore, I highly suggest attending this clinic.
The Winter Leage Charity event will be held on December 19th. As TJ's original email stated, this year's event will benefit Toys for Tots. The team which donates the most/best gifts will win field 3 for the rest of the year. Therefore, if you would like to participate in the event, please begin to think about gifts to donate.
I look forward to seeing you all on Saturday and hopefully getting a chance to see our team at full strength. I believe this will be the week that we finally get over the hump and get our first win!
Regards,
Mike
