Tournament Day uno dos tres..... DOCE

Good afternoon everyone

So here we are.... tournament day. After 14 games, after had won every game now our main goal for this Wnte League is now one day ahead. I would like to congratulate everyone of you. Last 2 weekends we had really difficult games and because we were organized in our offense and strong in our defense we won those games. Tomorrow games start at 9 sharp. Our 1st game will start 10:30. As I said last weekend we should get to the fields at least 45 min before the game starts, that will give us time to get ready, do some drills and be ready to kick some asses. So please be there at 9:30 - 9:45. I am so excited about tomorrow and I hope you are also. Remember our strategies. Short stack near to the handlers. We've had worked hard o make it work so be focus. I hope everyone of you can make it tomorrow, it is the last day so please be there. Doce is a great team and we should be proud of being part of it. Because we did not lose any game all the teams that we will play against want to beat us so we have to be stronger than them, be more focused than them, be more organized than them and for sure it will be easier for us to win those games.

I think that is all for now. Again, I hope to see you all there and congratulation for all the hard work that you have done.

See you tomorrow.

Don't forget that tomorrow will be cold so plan ahead all the things that you will need to stay warm.

tourny day

Everyone bring a disc tomorrow to help with a morning drill. It will be cold and our opponent will have just played a game. That means we have the advantage of being fresh, but they have the advantage of being warm. We need to have our legs loosened up and our hands warmed before the first pull. Mimi and I have been late the last few weeks, but we WILL be there on time tomorrow.

Both of our potential first game opponents are teams that we went to ultimate point with during the regular season. None of these games will be easy. We may be undefeated, but the majority of our wins were by 3 or fewer points and we survived 4 ultimate point games. We win close games because we fight hard the whole time and never quit (we've come back from being down 4 twice). We win because we play as a team and all buy in to an offensive system that we can rely on in the pressure packed moments. We win because we play hard, smart D. If we continue to focus on the things that make us win, then we will be proud of ourselves when Saturday is over.

Offensive Keys:
- We keep the stack tight, close to the handlers and on the break side of the field.
- We start our cuts from the back of the stack and cycle back into the front.
- When we dump the disc from a sideline we have a swing cut from the FRONT of the stack.
- When we get near the endzone we place our stack in the middle of the field.
- We recognize the importance of the dump pass. We dump the disc early in the count so we can keep it moving, leaving our opponents out of position and opening up swing passes that lead to big break side gains.
- If the other team poaches off our stack the poach guy goes deep or break side. The force side cutters do not get discouraged, they cut in and towards the sideline (pulling the poacher out of the space or getting open).

Defensive Keys:
- We always know where the force is.
- Everyone fronts their man by maintaining position about an arms length underneath ON THE FORCE SIDE.
- We do not rest on the mark. We shuffle our feet and play aggressive. The marks responsibility is to stop throws to the break side.
- We make "UP" calls, both the sideline and the marker. If a disc is thrown up in the air we all swarm to it. If one person gets beat deep that mean THE ENTIRE TEAM got beat deep.

If we get down, we don't give up. We turn or frustration into fuel for our intensity to fight back into the game and crush the other team.

It will be a fun day tomorrow Doce. Make sure you've got food, water and warm clothes. I'll see ya on the field.

Yay for Doce!

Hi, Doce,

I don't want to make this some awkward, long, drawn-out goodbye, but I wanted to tell you guys that this was a fun and rewarding season for me. I loved that each one of you bought into the team strategy and that you each figured out how to contribute in your own way, whether it was running down hucks or getting big Ds or cheering for your teammates on the sideline. It's that much more fun playing on a team in which everyone contributes.

Thank you, team, for being encouraging and positive, yet serious and focused. I specifically remember dropping the pull on ultimate point (gasp!), but you guys dug deep and played great D, got the turn, and we scored to win the game. It felt great to know that so many people had my back.

It was a good season. 16-1 isn't too shabby. Nice work.
